Training Times by Squad

Click on a squad below to find out when they train throughout the week. Each squad has one or two squad leaders, who you can contact if you have any questions about training. 

 

In the timetables you may see 'BPS'. This stands for 'Blues Performance Scheme,' and is a scheme that allows our highly committed and/or top performing athletes to have access to supervised strength and conditioning training, nutrition and psychology advice. If this is something you would like to be a part of, please don't hesitate to get in touch with one of our captains Charlotte or Will, and they can consider you for the scheme.

 

Looking for the long distance/cross country training? This is in the remit of the cross country club, OUCCC! Click the link to their website to find out their training times.

 Dev squad is a sprints squad dedicated to first-time athletes or people returning to the sport after a long time. You will receive highly focused coaching specified for you as an individual athlete. Please get in touch with short sprints squad leaders, Danielle or Lemuel, if you have any questions.

Long sprints is mainly for people interested in running 400m. The Squad leaders for long sprints are James and Natalie. Get in touch with them if you have any questions, including if you are not on the squad groupchat, and they will add you!

 Throughout the year, the middle distance squad often train with the long distance and cross country squad, from OUCCC. In the summer months they tend to always train on the track in the evenings, and sometimes the times change a little so the track is less busy when they do speed stuff! Get in touch with the squad leaders Catherine or Tom (aka Barrett) so that they can add you to the squad group chats and keep you up to date with training times. If you have any questions about anything feel free to drop them a line and they'll get right back to you.

Sunday 10:30-12:00 Technical hurdles session every other week (on even weeks: week 0,2,4,6,8 of term)

The 400 hurdles training can be done either with the long sprints squad, or the sprint hurdles/short sprints squad, as fits an athlete's schedule better. The long sprints squad will do technical hurdle training, Saturdays every other week on even weeks, so week 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 of term.  This includes Shot Put, Discus Throws, and Hammer Throw. Every other week after Saturday morning throws sessions athletes can head to Horspath to throw hammers. Note that you can only throw chain hammers at Iffley Road until the last day of Hilary Term.

 

Note that some weeks Bob (coach) may not be able to make the Saturday morning session, in which case he will switch to Thursday afternoon. This may become regular if there is demand.

On top of the training times shown below, there will be bi-termly masterclasses in place for javelin this year. The timings for these are to be confirmed, but do keep an eye out here and on our social media channels for more information on this.

 

The squad leader for Javelin is Jesse, so get in touch with him if you have any questions or need to be added to the squad groupchat.

 This year, we will be having pole vault masterclasses held throughout term time. This will be an opportunity for athletes to practice pole vault, especially if it isn't their main event but they want to try it out/practice to help the team, but cannot commit to the weekly sessions. These sessions are open to anyone and everyone, and in Michaelmas Term will be:
